5 Fun Facts You Didn’t Know About Me

  1. My short film documentary SIDELINE: THE HISTORY OF BLACK CHESSPLAYERS won the Black Brilliancy Prize in 2015 at Dusable Museum.
  2. When I started my business in 1992, the company name was Wrath Financial Services, Inc. (I was young). I changed the company name to Onyx Enterprises, Inc. in 2004 and again in 2014 after I got my license to practice before the IRS to Kirby Ashley & Associates LLC.
  3. The handle my chess buddies gave me is The Sideline Grandmaster. That’s because I’ve always got something smart to say on the sidelines while watching others play, much to the annoyance of the players.
  4. My dog's name is Lucky. He was tortured as a pup and he’s lucky to be alive. On weekends, I like to sit out in the backyard and read while Lucky barks at the neighbors.
  5. Aside from chess, my hobbies are screenwriting and weightlifting. I’m currently working on an erotic thriller called Roués. I prefer the Olympic lifts. My only other hobby is reading tax law, if you can call it that. I’m particularly fond of Supreme Court rulings on tax matters.
